Hola Communidad,
We are thrilled to share updates on the blossoming impact of your generous donations to Seeds for a Future. Your contributions are actively fostering growth within our organization and throughout the Guatemalan communities, we serve, and the impact of which is in full bloom this Green Season!
Connecting Locally, Expanding Globally
Since our last report, we have celebrated some exciting milestones. We are delighted to welcome Juan Francisco or simply Francisco, to our Field Team! Fluent in Quiché, a Mayan language spoken by roughly 10% of Guatemalans, Francisco brings invaluable skills to our work in the Suchitepéquez region where ~80% of the population speaks Quiché. Ready to empower his local community with skills to succeed in living a healthier, well-nourished life, Francisco will be supporting 30 families in the town of Pasaq. His addition allows us to communicate more effectively with a wider segment of the community, fostering deeper connections and understanding.
Our "Día del Campo" events are a resounding success! These gatherings, which we've hosted monthly or twice monthly throughout 2024, have become cornerstones of community building, uniting individuals from diverse backgrounds around shared goals for themselves and local families. In May, we hosted nearly 200 attendees at a single Día del Campo, including university students eager to learn about our mission. Each gathering highlights a different program area, such as our April event where we demonstrated the benefits of compost for gardens (read more about it on our blog!).
The "Green Season" is also flourishing globally! Our volunteer program has seen incredible growth, with dedicated individuals from the US to India contributing their research, administration, marketing, and more skills. This outpouring of support is a testament to the far-reaching impact of our mission.
Overcoming Challenges, Cultivating the Future
While the rainy season presents some challenges for hosting consistent "Día del Campo" events, we are adapting our approach and exploring alternative ways to engage with community members eager to learn.
Thanks to your donations, we can continue to fund these vital community events, including promotional materials, transportation, and coordination efforts. Your contributions also directly support Francisco's salary, enabling us to expand our reach and impact.
Looking Forward
In the coming months, we will focus on fully onboarding Francisco and aim to welcome more Quiché-speaking community members into our programs within Suchitepéquez. We are also excited about potential partnerships that could see us expanding into new regions, including Sacatepequez and Chiquimula.
Thank you, as always, for being a part of the Seeds for a Future family. Your generosity is making a tangible difference in the lives of individuals and communities across Guatemala, and we value the opportunity to share updates on all that you are making possible.
Gracias para todos,
the Seeds for a Future Team
