The aim of this project is to provide financial assistance to the hospitals of the Lodi province, where the first cases of COVID-19 in Italy appeared. They are much smaller in size than other hospitals and are faced with little financial aid. As all Italian hospitals which are treating Coronavirus patients, they too lack ventilators and basic equipment. The money raised will be used to purchase intensive care units and protective equipment (gloves, masks, body suit, etc.).
Italian hospitals are collapsing under the Coronavirus emergency: they need more intensive care units, ventilators, protection kits, doctors. Most of the fundraising is going to larger hospitals leaving the smaller ones in an even worse situation. One of Guardavanti's funding member is an infectiologist working for a hospital in Lodi and she asked us for help. They are treating many COVID-19 patients coming from all Italy, but lack of equipment limits their actions and puts them at risk.
Project aim is twofold. Firstly, to secure the safety of all Health Professionals working in the hospital, purchasing PEE [Personal Protective Equipment]: doctors, nurses, volunteers, all hospital staff. Secondly, to increase the capacity of the Intensive Care Unit, purchasing ventilators, essential to treat the critical COVID-19 patients. Currently there are not enough ventilators, and not enough protective kits.
The equipment purchased will be used to save lives during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as during any future crisis the hospital will face, as the equipment will remain at the disposal of the Health Professionals daily job. The ventilators also become an additional equipment for future routine treatments.
