In rural communities of Tororo District, Uganda, many babies have never used diapers because their families cannot afford them. Mothers often rely on unsafe cloth rags, old clothes, or other unhygienic materials that expose babies to skin infections, discomfort, and poor sanitation. This project by the Good Cause Foundation will introduce diapers to vulnerable rural babies for the first time while educating caregivers on infant hygiene, sanitation, and baby care.
Poverty in rural Tororo has made diapers inaccessible to most families. Babies are often left in wet cloth materials for long hours, increasing the risk of skin rashes, infections, and poor hygiene conditions. Mothers spend many hours washing reusable cloths instead of engaging in income-generating activities or caring for their families. Limited awareness about infant hygiene and sanitation further affects the health and well-being of babies in underserved communities.
This project will provide diapers to vulnerable babies, train mothers and caregivers in proper infant hygiene practices, and conduct community outreach programs on sanitation and child care. Good Cause Foundation will work closely with local leaders, health workers, and community volunteers to ensure effective distribution and continuous support for families in rural villages.
The project will improve infant hygiene, reduce infections and skin complications, and increase awareness about proper baby care in rural communities. Mothers will experience reduced stress and improved caregiving conditions, while babies will grow healthier and more comfortable. The initiative will also strengthen community understanding of sanitation and child health, creating lasting positive change for vulnerable families in Tororo.
