Wingu is a civic tech non-profit organization that works to strengthen other not-for-profit projects through the implementation of technology to maximize their impact. As education is one of the pillars of Wingu, FITS emerges as another instance of training and formation of Non Profits. The festival, with its six-year history, is a meeting point for organizations which are highly benefited for the strengthening and share knowledge about innovative tools that contribute to daily work.
After having trained more than 20.000 people from Latin American Civic Society and having implemented digital resources (CRMs, CMSs, LMSs, Web apps, Mobile apps, email MKT tools) in more than 1400 Civic Society Organizations (CSO, including Foundations, Civil Associations, Public Entities, Universities), Wingu has identified that there is still a big gap between social impact projects in Latin America, and their capacity to efficiently use innovative technologies.
The FITS articulate and share knowledge about innovative tools that contribute to daily work. The main axes of it are the following: Training: Participants will know the best technology proposals for their social projects. Technology: There are many free or licensed tools for Non Profits and from Wingu we want to encourage to use them. Articulation: The festival is emerging as a place of connection between organizations. Innovation: We are committed to change and constant innovation.
The FITS is one of the greatest festivals in the region and is completely free, so that Non Profit can benefit and strengthen their missions. The FITS challanges the status quo of organizations in order to inspire them to understand the importance and scope of technology in their daily work. Therefore, they can be informed on the uses and good practices of the sector, be trained through workshops, and articulate together with the private and public sector, to enhance its impact.
