This year's floods in Pakistan have displaced over 2 million people (ECHO, 2025). Homes have been swept away and livelihoods destroyed, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) face added challenges: evacuation is more difficult, mobility aids are often lost, and barriers multiply. To respond, this project will support 100 PWDs and their families with a wheelchair, one-month food ration, and hygiene kit, ensuring they are not left behind.
The recent floods in Pakistan have destroyed homes, crops, and businesses, forcing families into loss and uncertainty. For Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), the crisis is even more severe: flooded and damaged roads make evacuation nearly impossible, wheelchairs and mobility aids are often swept away, and access to food, healthcare, and safety become even more difficult.
Through this project, NOWPDP will provide emergency relief to 100 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) and their families. Each family will receive one wheelchair, rations for one month, and a hygiene kit. This immediate support will reduce their daily hardships in the aftermath of the floods and ensure they are not excluded from urgent relief efforts.
By addressing urgent needs now, this project also creates space for recovery. PWDs and their families who receive this support will be better positioned to rebuild their lives after the floods. In the long term, this intervention will contribute to disability-inclusive disaster response, ensuring that some of the most vulnerable are not left behind in future emergencies.
