The 2019 spring storms of flooding and tornadoes left over 5,000 families in a state of need. Some flooding reached ceiling heights creating a great need for building materials to make repairs. Flooding impacts low income families who live in inexpensive flood planes. Many families are facing winter with no insulation and drywall following muck-out work. Funds are needed to buy building materials to help these families recover.
Large amounts of rain fall over long periods of time saturated the ground creating increased run off into rivers and lakes. The rivers were swollen outside their banks and lakes had to open their damns to release water. All this created massive flooding around Oklahomas rivers and lakes that lace the state.
Families that have no ability to recover on their own will receive materials and labor at no cost to make their home home again. This project will involve cleaning out all the damaged materials (muck-out) and then to put the home back together with new roofing, flooring, drywall... making the home safe and secure for the families.
Homes that are repaired allow those families to stay in their community making them more resilient. These homes will be repaired so that the health of the family is not jeopardized by the condition of the home they live in.
