Expectant mothers in remote Nigerian communities often face the journey to a clinic without transport, safe roads or timely help. This project will send trained midwives by motorbike and mobile clinic to reach them where they live, monitor pregnancy, provide antenatal care and link with emergency referrals. Your help can bring the clinic to her rather than her facing long, dangerous trips.
In parts of Nigeria the nearest hospital may be many miles away or inaccessible by foot for pregnant women. Conflict, poor infrastructure and lack of skilled birth attendants raise the risk that mothers and babies will face preventable complications. Reports show in some camps for displaced persons more than half the births occur without skilled supervision. When help is far, the outcomes are often tragic.
We will deploy midwives on motorbikes and in portable mobile clinic units to travel to hard-to-reach communities. Each midwife will carry essential supplies, perform antenatal visits, teach safe birth practices and provide referrals when danger signs appear. Local community members will be trained to assist and ensure a mother in need gets visited promptly, even in isolated zones.
When a woman receives reliable care in her home, the chances of a safe delivery improve and newborns begin life under better conditions. Communities feel safer knowing help comes directly to them and mothers receive treatment at their doorstep instead of having to travel to clinics.
