Dear Donors,
We are appealing for support for the Flying Midwives: Mobile Care for Expectant Mothers project. At this time, no donations have been received. Without funding, we are unable to deploy midwives and mobile clinic services to reach pregnant women living in remote and underserved communities.
Many expectant mothers in rural parts of Nigeria live far from the nearest health facility. Poor roads, long distances, and lack of transportation make it difficult to attend antenatal visits or seek help during emergencies. In some displaced communities, many births take place without trained medical support, increasing the risk of complications for both mother and child.
This project will deploy trained midwives using motorbikes and portable mobile clinic units to reach women where they live. Midwives will conduct antenatal checkups, monitor pregnancy progress, provide basic medical care, and identify danger signs early. They will also guide mothers on safe delivery practices and arrange referrals to hospitals when necessary.
Bringing care directly to communities can reduce delays in treatment and improve the chances of safe delivery. Mothers will receive timely medical attention without the burden of traveling long distances while pregnant. Families will also gain confidence knowing that skilled care is available within their reach.
Until funding is secured, these outreach visits and mobile clinic services cannot begin. We kindly ask for your support to help us deliver maternal care to women who would otherwise remain without access to skilled health services.
Sincerely,
Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
