On Saturday May 28th of 2022, several members of our team (including several of our young French volunteers) went to the district of Tocaimita, illegally built on the heights of the city of Usme, in the suburbs of Bogota. We are now lucky enough to know this area and some of its inhabitants well, who are indigenous victims of forced displacement and violence caused by various paramilitary groups active in several regions left by the Colombian state.
Indeed, we regularly come to this neighborhood and we have privileged links with the community leaders, who are of great help to us in the organization of our distributions and the various workshops that we set up in Tocaimita.
Accompanied by volunteers, our employees and our civic services, we organized our monthly solidarity distribution. We distributed our 150 bags of fresh products (bananas, oranges, tomatoes, onions...) and 150 bags of dry products (such as oil, flour, coffee, pasta...) to the most needy. This moment is always very important and instructive for us. Our work finds its meaning in this kind of activity. We are happy to come to this area and talk to the people of Tocaimita. The distribution ended with a meal that we shared and a speech in the indigenous Nasa language. Many thanks to all of you for your welcome!
Once again, we want to thank our GlobalGiving Community and all of our donors for their support and help. If we’re able to distribute food every month and to help so many families, it’s mainly because of you.
Stay tuned for our next reports and actions on the field!
