Dear GlobalGiving community,
This saturday, September 24th our Foundation Proyectar Sin Fronteras went to Ciudad Bolívar, into the in the poor neighborhood of Bella Flor la Torre. The town of Ciudad Bolívar, located near Bogotá, is marked by high levels of poverty and marginality, exclusion and insecurity, under the presence of armed cells in specific sectors of the locality, as the urban face of the Colombian social and political conflict.
In general, displaced persons or people with few economic resources try to settle mainly in the south of the city, where they invade land and settle in peripheral rings in the neighborhoods that have already been formed. This is a disorderly occupation of the land, as these people are not included in the city's development or expansion plans.
The vast majority of the inhabitants of Ciudad Bolivar are in a situation of economic precarity, notably because of the armed conflict and the violence suffered. The inhabitants of the Barrio Bella Flor la Torre neighborhood were left without access to running water for several months in 2022.
In September 2022, we distributed 150 solidarity markets, as always made of fruits, vegetables and dry products, which are parts of the traditional Colombian basket (including coffee, oil, rice...).
Ciudad Bolivar is the first locality in Bogota in terms of the number of people with unsatisfied basic needs. In this city, 8.9% of the population is in multidimensional poverty.
This work is not possible without your financial support. Each donation represents a new course, a new plant and a new hope for the displaced people of Tocaimita. Support our solidarity projects! Here in PSF, we combine ecology and social issues to make Colombia a better country for all.
Once again, we want to thank our GlobalGiving Community and all of our donors for their support and help. We invite you to support us and to help us to achieve our solidarity goals.
Stay tuned for our next reports and actions on the field! And thank you for reading us.
Yours truly,
PSF team
