Update on Food Aid for Afghan Families

By Missy Simmons | Director of Organizational Development

We are working to provide another food distribution for families before the end of winter, where we will provide staple food supplies that will support families with their basic needs.

Recent recipients have been women-led households, returnees, and earthquake victims. We plan to focus our efforts on these groups.

One woman recipient shared, "This food assistance has helped us greatly. My children are still very young and need proper food every day. Before receiving this support, it was extremely difficult for me to manage their daily meals, especially with limited income. Providing enough food for them was a constant struggle. This aid has helped improve their nutrition and has reduced the physical burden on me as a mother trying to care for small children under very difficult circumstances.

Now, I am the only one working, and there is no male breadwinner in our household. My children are very young and leaving them behind to work in other people’s homes causes me deep emotional pain and stress. During the winter, our situation became even harder because I had to leave my children at home while searching for a small amount of income just to survive. This food assistance has become a very big help for us during the winter months and has supported us in meeting our most basic needs.

I am very grateful and satisfied with the support we received. This assistance has helped ease our current problems for at least one or two months and has given me some peace of mind.”

Thank you for your support!
