You can't learn on an empty stomach

As 2017 gets off to a good start the need for food, as well as education, is real and obvious: you cannot learn on an empty stomach. Our children all help in the house and the fields before and after school, often fuelled by a mug of coffee and a tortilla. Our food and fruit programs are a crucial sustenance for them to take advantage of the education that we are giving them. More importantly are the family sustainable income plans which provide extra income for household meals and medicines, especially as year afer year we see the crops failing due to changes in climate, droughts and lack of water. Just last week I was talking to memeber of a community not far from Itzapa, Guatemala - their water has run out and with the rains not due for another few months food will be scarce. It is happening and it is happening now.

The third Seven Continent Charity Challenge gets underway in Guatemala on Tuesday 21st March 2017 to raise funds for project costs and employment opportunities for our graduates, as mentionned above, climbing Volcano Tajumulco, the highest point in Central America. There are more events planned throughout the year in different countries including England, Ireland, Australia, Canada and the United States so if you want to get involved in Guatemala on 21st March or other events, please do contact us on the link below and you can use this page as your fundraising page. Alternatively, if you want to donate to the cause, please donate to this page!
