The situation in Kayah State in Myanmar is becoming increasingly worrying. Thousands of people are still fleeing devastating aerial bombings that are destroying their villages and livelihoods. The ongoing conflicts and the associated uncertainties have led to many families having to leave everything they knew behind and now live in refugee camps.
In addition to the physical dangers posed by the attacks, the dramatic decline in the value of the currency has further worsened people's living conditions. Many are no longer able to get enough food and depend on humanitarian aid to survive.
In this critical situation, we reacted quickly as an NGO. We were able to ensure that 257 families, a total of 746 people, were supplied with food packages in two refugee camps. These packages contain essential foodstuffs that are vital for the survival of the families.
We have also thought about the needs of children. In four schools in the contested areas, we have ensured that 610 students receive a healthy lunch twice a month. This initiative is not only important for the physical health of the children, but also for their education and well-being in a time of insecurity.
Despite the challenges we face, our commitment to the people of Kayah State remains as strong as ever. We will continue to do everything in our power to provide aid and give hope.
We thank all our supporters who make it possible for us to continue this important work. Together with our local staff, we can make a difference in the lives of the people there.
