Dear friends:
We faced some setbacks during the torrential monsoon season between June and September.
In one particular region where we'd planted 5,000 elephant-friendly saplings, we were faced with the challenge of mitigating cattle grazing. Our team swiftly deviced a plan to create sturdy bamboo fencing to protect the saplings that were planted in July of this year, just before the monsoons. The saplings are now thriving.
Due to the torrential monsoon rains, some of the waterholes were also damaged. But again, our team moved into action and the tribal communities whom we've employed to reconstruct the waterholes fixed the problem right away. And the result? An elephant was detected visiting one of the waterholes at night. How cool is that!!
I am deeply heartened to share with you that despite these minor setbacks, we're making significant progress providing food and water for 212 elephants in Odisha, and rewilding the depleted forests in the regions of Pallahara and Balasore, by planting elephant-friendly saplings and building water-holes.
We can work wonders when we join hands. As Margaret Mead so poignantly stated, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, and committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Rest assured, every hard-earned penny that you've donated to our noble cause is being utilized frugally, and the results we are able to share give us a profound sense of joy and happiness! Because of your support 212 elephants will never go hungry or thirsty!! All of us appreciate your immense generosity and kindness! Thank you from the depth of our hearts for your unwavering support.
Sincerely,
Sangita
