Many orphans living with HIV in Nigeria go days without proper meals. Hunger weakens their ability to take antiretroviral drugs and fight infections. This project will set up food banks in three high-need communities to provide regular food packages to 500 HIV-positive orphans. Each child will receive weekly food supplies, including milk, beans, oil, and fortified cereal. Your support can help these children stay alive and well-fed.
HIV-positive orphans in Nigeria often live in households with little or no income. Many skip meals or eat once a day, making it harder for them to take HIV medication. Malnutrition weakens their immune systems and increases the risk of infections. Without consistent food, these children remain underweight, tired, and more likely to fall ill or drop out of school.
The project will set up three local food banks and register 500 HIV-positive orphans through community clinics. Each child will receive weekly rations of locally available food that supports medication use and body strength. Volunteers will monitor food distribution and check in with caregivers. This system will improve the chances of survival and health for children facing hunger.
Regular food access will help children stick to their treatment, avoid hospital visits, and stay in school. It can reduce the burden on caregivers who struggle to feed them. With fewer health problems and better nutrition, these orphans can grow up with better physical strength and mental focus. Community-led food banks may continue serving others even after the project period.
