Dear Donors,
We extend sincere appreciation to everyone who has shown kindness toward the Food Banks to Help HIV+ Orphans Survive in Nigeria project. Your support reflects compassion for children living with serious health and economic hardship. While a few contributions have been received so far, the amount available is still too small for the food bank program to begin operating.
Across several communities in Nigeria, many children living with HIV have lost their parents and now depend on relatives or guardians who have very limited income. In such homes, meals are often irregular. Some children eat only once a day or rely on whatever food happens to be available.
For children receiving antiretroviral treatment, proper nutrition is very important. When medication is taken without adequate food, it becomes harder for the body to tolerate treatment and fight infections. Hunger can leave these children weak, underweight, and frequently ill. Many also struggle to remain active in school due to fatigue and poor health.
This project plans to establish three community food banks in areas where HIV positive orphans face the greatest need. Through these centers, 500 registered children will receive weekly food packages that may include milk, beans, cooking oil, and fortified cereals. These foods are selected to support strength, improve nutrition, and help children take their medication properly.
Local volunteers working with community clinics will help identify eligible children and supervise food distribution. Caregivers will also receive guidance on how to support proper feeding for children living with HIV.
The concern already shown by donors encourages our team and reminds these children that they are not forgotten. Continued support from compassionate individuals will make it possible to launch the food banks and begin delivering steady food assistance to the children who depend on it.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
