Words directly from Carla ..
Thank you to the American Foundation for Children with AIDS and its staff. I was really poor and I managed to bear the burden of my family. When I was chosen to participate in your programs, my family began to grow. I've been able to grow vegetables, maize, beans and other produce. We are able to eat and sell some to others so our family does not go hungry.
I have also received 4 sheep - 3 females and 1 male. I often had the threat of thieves in Gemena, so I requested help from the project manager. They helped me transfer my animals to another village where they are safe. Breeding has been successful and I now have 5 sheep. I will soon be able to return 2 sheep back to the program so other families may participate and I will become independent.
Carla is able to share this amazing story because of your generosity. Her family is no longer hungry, and she is able to educate the orphans in her care. With our partners on the ground, the children and their families receive the support and monitoring they need to make this a very successful project.
