Challenge

Currently, the farmers are practicing the monoculture type of farming in the area. Despite the Small Scale Farmers having natural resources like Mudi River and the land, they have low and poor quality yield of their crops yearly with no markets to sell their produce and poor communication due to lack of electricity which make them poorer. Some of them are women who lost their husbands to different reasons like diseases and natural death with that the areas have no sustainable development.

Solution

Instead of them to be un-productive and lose the utilization of the natural resources, the project will provide them with value addition to their crops, identifying them markets, introduce Community Banking to create a saving culture in them and train them in skills like marketing/Financial to change their mindset to consider sustainable development in their different communities.

Long-Term Impact

- The project will train 351 small scale farmers and equip them with technical skills in new farming methods and economic skills which will enable them to improve the living standards of their families. - The union in the community will be improved through common buying and selling methods of the farm produce. - The number of school going children transiting from one class to other will increase as the project will provide solar lamps for access to light and phone charging.
