During this past month we joined Plenitud PR, a non-profit organization that works with agroecology and bioconstruction from service, sustainability and community to launch the #SiembraBoricuaChallenge. Through social network we encouraged people to present their food production spaces to us in order to share the different ways in we can grow food and elevate the work of those who work the land. As part of the prizes for this challenge we offered [1] Siembra Boricua! Manual of agriculture in harmony with nature, is a balanced integration of the wise experiences of successful agroecological farmers along with the voices of academics and researchers in the fields of agriculture, biology and education, among others. The artistic presentation of its content makes reading fun and enriching. The context of the manual is based on the principles of agroecology and permaculture applied to Puerto Rico, taking the reader from the permacultural design of the farm or orchard, to soil enrichment, management and collection of rainwater, production abundant food, to the preparation of delicious recipes with fresh harvests. [2] A stipend of $250.00 to purchase tools and materials for each farm. A total of 10 books and $2,500.00 were distributed to 10 food production projects.

Our intention with this is to continue promoting the various ways of growing food in order to continue supporting food sovereignty on the island.

In addition, we are very happy to share that thanks to this fund we were able to support a community leader to turn an abandoned house in her community into a community garden for the use and enjoyment of the residents of the urban area of Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Right now we were able to clean the space and collectively design the future garden. Construction is coming up soon!

Little by little we continue to support food production projects that work our lands with so much love and passion and produce healthy produce.

Until next time
