Despite our best efforts, MCANAAN Orphanage has faced challenges in garnering the anticipated support and interest on the GlobalGiving platform. The children under our care continue to face pressing needs for food, clothing, and education, highlighting the critical importance of meeting these basic necessities.
At MCANAAN Orphanage, our mission extends beyond caring for orphaned children to supporting single mothers, empowering them to provide for their children and prevent further instances of abandonment. We acknowledge the significant role that unemployment and destitution among single mothers play in child abandonment, and we strive to offer these mothers the support they need to ensure their children receive the love, security, nourishment, and education they deserve.
Despite an unsuccessful fundraising effort for a micro project aimed at renovating the orphanage, we are pleased to report that the Director, in affiliation with the Rotary Club, successfully secured funds to purchase land. Currently, we are actively engaged in brick-making to construct a safe and sturdy home and school for the children, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
Additionally, through the generous support of a local church, we have received seeds to cultivate our food, furthering our efforts towards self-sustainability.
While our project may no longer be featured on GlobalGiving due to limited participation, the MCANAAN Orphanage continues to thrive. We have initiated a store selling items created in our tailoring workshop, contributing to our sustainability efforts.
