At Footprints 4 Sam, our Gogo Relief Project continues to provide meaningful and practical support to families caring for children who are living with a life-limiting illness.
At the heart of the initiative is “Sam se Bussies”- our dedicated Super Sam Hero Transport Initiative that takes our precious VIP patients’ and their caregivers from their homes to their essential and critical medical appointments. For many families, the cost and logistics of travel remain one of the biggest barriers to accessing consistent care. Through this service, and with the support of our kind and compassionate drivers, we are able to ease that burden and ensure children get to the treatment they need, with dignity and care.
Beyond transport, the Gogo Relief Project also continues to provide essential support through our Super Sam Hero Food and Care buckets that are thoughtfully packed with food items and toiletries to support families during extended hospital stays and financially challenging times. In our most recent campaign, we successfully delivered 120 Super Sam Hero Food Buckets to hospitals across South Africa. These included Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital in Johannesburg, as well as Paedspal in Cape Town and General Justice Gizenga Hospital in KwaZulu-Natal.
Each bucket represents more than just practical support and is a gesture of compassion, offering comfort and reassurance to families navigating incredibly difficult journeys. This milestone was made possible through the generous collaboration of our partners. The team from Checkers at the Winifred Mandela Precinct dedicated their time to carefully pack each bucket, while Triton Express once again ensured that deliveries were made efficiently and reliably to the hospitals in need.
As the need for paediatric palliative care continues to grow in South Africa, so too does the importance of initiatives like Gogo Relief. Thanks to your ongoing support, we are able to continue delivering not just services but hope, dignity, and human connection.
Thank you for helping us carry these families through some of their most challenging moments!
Until next time,
Jo and the Footprints 4 Sam Team
