In Response to Beirut Blast crisis and as an Emergency Response Action plan, AICA started implementation of a project, funded by Catholic Relief Services, for providing general practitioner consultations, medicine and psychosocial support free of charge to cover 1000 beneficiaries per month. During implementation it was noticed that the need is much bigger and that primary health care services and mental health services should be provided to around 3000 beneficiaries per month.
Beirut the capital of Lebanon was hit by the third most destructive blast in human history on the 4th of August 2020. This blast have left the capital Beirut in need of every kind of help that can be offered at al aspects where tens of countries, hundreds of NGOs, and thousands of individuals started providing support to the stricken city. Hundreds of thousands of people were left without shelters, food and medication
Catholic Relief Services expanded its current project in Beirut to cover free primary health care to receive 1500 patients per month, AICA is trying to secure more funds to be able to expand services and number of beneficiaries. This free coverage will help the habitants of Beirut in getting over their physical and mental wounds, to stand up and build their self confidence again and to feel that they were not left alone
AICA is planning to cover these services for a period of one year where people will feel they have a health resort to reach for free when ever they are in need and that whatever money they are gaining, they can use it for anything else but not primary health care as it will be provided free of charge for them. This project would have a long term impact on beneficiaries as they will be saving hundreds of dollars that should have been paid for health services to be used for their future well being
