Fazendo Historia Institute is a foster family service

Dear donos,

In Brazil, most children who need to be separated from their biological family still go to an institution, even the ones in early childhood. Despite research that shows children, especially under 6, should be fostered in a Foster Family, where they can receive care, stability and a loving home for as long as they need, having the chance to fully develop.

Since 2015, Fazendo Historia Institute has been disseminating this type of foster care service in Brazil, working to end young children s institutionalization. Our Foster Care Service has fostered over 42 children, and published a guide to help other foster family programs around the country develop the service in a satisfactory way.

And now in 2020 we are getting bigger! With the help of São Paulo s municipality we are increasing our capacity, and will be able to foster up to 30 children in foster families. A big step towards ending young children s institutionalization in the largest city of Brazil.

We have a lot of challenges ahead but we are looking forward to it. Together we are creating new stories for Brazilian children!

Finally, we would like to share a testimony of a foster family who has just fostered their fifth child:

“We are very calm, without anxiety this time. First because it is already the fifth time and we know more about the procedures and "what will come". And secondly for the trust in the process, in the service itself, in the support we receive from the professionals. The whole process is well braided, firm, solid to help whatever appears in the way. We are available and open to deal with whatever comes! “

Thank you for your support
