Dear GlobalGiving Community,
American Aid is committed to freeing widowed mothers from debt imprisonment in Egypt through our Gharemat (Women in Debt) Project. We're pleased to share our initial progress report.
Campaign Status:
• Total Campaign Goal: $250,000 • Funds Raised: $25 (0.01% of target) • Current Donors: 1 • Campaign.
Current Reality:
In Egypt, the situation remains critical: • 30,000 widows and female heads of households in prison for unpaid debts • 25% of Egypt's prison population are women imprisoned for debt • Many are mothers separated from their children • Most were coerced into signing blank checks while trying to provide basic necessities.
Preparation Phase:
While in these early stages (0.01% of our target), we've established: • Legal support networks • Case verification processes • Rehabilitation program frameworks • Family support systems
Looking Forward: With continued donor support and generosity, we aim to: • Free more women from debt imprisonment • Reunite families • Provide rehabilitation support • Enable financial independence • Break the cycle of poverty and imprisonment
Your support can help transform lives. Together, we can restore dignity and hope to families torn apart by debt imprisonment.
Warmly, American Aid Team
