Help Give Kids Clearer Vision

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We sincerely thank you in advance for considering this project. Your interest already means hope for children who struggle in classrooms because they cannot see the board or read their books clearly.

Poor eyesight is an often-overlooked barrier to education in Nigeria. Many families in low-income communities cannot afford eye tests or prescription glasses. As a result, children are wrongly labeled as lazy or slow learners when, in truth, they simply cannot see. This contributes to poor academic performance, frustration, and in some cases children dropping out of school. Studies show that millions of Nigerian children live with untreated vision problems, yet basic interventions such as eye screening and glasses could make a lasting difference.

Our plan is to visit schools in underserved communities with trained opticians who will carry out simple sight tests for students. Those identified with vision challenges will be given prescription glasses free of charge. Parents and teachers will also be involved, so they can understand how to support children with poor sight. With clear vision, students can read at night, follow lessons in class, and participate fully in school activities.

Although no funds have been received yet, we are ready to begin as soon as donations come in. Each contribution will go directly to covering eye screening costs, glasses production, and distribution to children who need them most.

We sincerely thank you for your kindness in considering this project.

Warm regards,
Kadiri, Ugbede-Ojo Dominic
