Poor Vision Continues to Affect Classroom Learning

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

Thank you for your support of the Free Glasses for Schoolkids with Poor Sight project. Every donation received reminds us that there are people who care about helping children learn without unnecessary barriers.

In many public schools, children sit through lessons every day without being able to clearly see what is written on the board. Some move closer to the front of the classroom to cope, while others simply struggle in silence. Unfortunately, poor eyesight is frequently mistaken for poor academic ability, lack of concentration, or disinterest in school.

Although donations have started coming in, the funds currently available are still not enough to begin project implementation. Additional support is needed before we can conduct the planned vision screenings and provide eyeglasses to children who need them.

Our planned intervention will focus on identifying children with vision challenges through school-based screenings and providing prescription eyeglasses to those whose learning is being affected by poor sight. For many children, something as simple as a pair of glasses can make reading easier, improve participation in class, and restore confidence in their abilities.

Many families cannot afford eye examinations or prescription glasses, leaving children to cope with a problem that can easily be corrected. As a result, academic performance suffers and some pupils gradually lose interest in learning because they cannot keep up with their classmates.

We appreciate the generosity shown so far and remain hopeful that further support will allow us to move forward with the first phase of this project. When implementation begins, we look forward to sharing updates and stories from the children whose learning experience will be improved through your kindness.

Thank you for helping children see a clearer path to education.

With sincere appreciation,

Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
