This project is providing free drugs and medical services to 500 poor elderly men and women who are either diabetic or hypertensive or both every month. With these free monthly drugs, the poor elderly people with hypertension and diabetes will be able to leave a quality life. In Nigeria, many elderly poor people who are either diabetic or hypertensive 0r both have no access to their basic drugs and healthcare services.
In Nigeria, many elderly poor people who are either diabetic or hypertensive 0r both have no access to their basic drugs and healthcare services. Most of them are pensioners who have not received their pension in the past 25 months hence they can not afford the drugs when it is available. Hence some have developed complications from these diseases, while some have died from resultant effects of these diseases.
This problem will be solved by providing free hypertensive and diabetic drugs to these poor elderly men and women. They will also be provided with free medical services such as regular clinical evaluations in the organization Health facilities.
The potential long impact is that most of the poor elderly hypertensive and diabetic patients will be saved from preventable deaths, hence they will be able to leave a quality life. It will also stimulate the people to abandon the superstitious belief of attaching hypertension and diabetes with spiritual connotations.
