Pregnant Women Miss Scans That Detect Early Risks

By Joy Ojochogwu Etubi | Project Leader

Dear Donors,

We appreciate the attention given to the Free Ultrasound Scan for Low Income Pregnant Women project. At this time, no donations have been received, so the outreach for free ultrasound services has not yet begun.

In many underserved communities, pregnant women go through their pregnancies without access to basic medical checks. Ultrasound scans, which help detect early complications, are often too costly for families with limited income. As a result, many women are unaware of possible risks until serious problems arise.

Conditions such as fetal distress, abnormal pregnancy development, or other complications can go unnoticed without proper screening. When these issues are discovered late, it becomes harder to provide timely care, placing both mother and child at risk.

This project plans to provide free ultrasound scans to 3,000 pregnant women through mobile clinics and partner health centers. Each woman will receive a scan to monitor the baby’s development, along with simple guidance on her pregnancy and referrals if any concerns are identified.

By making these services accessible, more women will have the opportunity to understand their pregnancy progress and seek medical care early when needed. Early detection can make a significant difference in preventing complications and improving birth outcomes.

We are thankful for the interest shown in this initiative and remain hopeful that support will grow so these services can begin reaching women who need them most.

Sincerely,

Joy Ojochogwu Etubi
