Thank you for your donations to support the work of Kimbilio with street children in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This is enabling us to change the lives of these children and give them a better future.
Our founding Director, Ian Harvey, has just returned from a visit to the Congo where he was able to meet with the Congolese team of leaders and see their work first-hand.
For many years, Kimbilio has paid for children in its care to attend local schools. This summer, three of them - Ndega, Henlock and Pascal (pictured above celebrating), who began schooling at Primary level, have graduated at Secondary level and will be going on to university. Their future is bright. This has only been possible because of the generosity of our supporters.
The current Kimbilio project is to build a multipurpose Day Centre in Lumbumbashi. The Day Centre is our first point of contact with street children and provides food and water, clothing, medical care and a safe environment for the children. Up to now, Kimbilio has had use of the Anglican Cathedral but we now need to have our own premises. We have identified a plot of land in the city centre and raised $30,000 of the $50,000 needed to purchase the plot.
