Challenge

A 2017 poll conducted by the Center for Independent Sociological Studies OMEGA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine found that while only 12 percent of Ukrainians aged 14-34 have joined a public project to support their local communities, 52 percent indicated they are ready to join a public project to support their local communities. Our Youth Bank will initially fund 25 youth teams -- each consisting of 3+ members -- and will affect 2500+ Ukrainians in their communities.

Solution

A group of youth interested in conducting a project within their community must apply to participate in a small training session. During the session, they will be taught how to develop their idea, how to fill out a proposal, and how to create a budget. Then, a small sum of money is given to the groups of young people who have developed a well-designed plan. During the process, youth learn important lessons about leadership, decision-making, teamwork, problem solving, event planning, and more!

Long-Term Impact

This project will train 25 youth teams skills such as leadership, decision-making, teamwork, problem solving, and event planning. Youth teams that successfully complete a project will be asked to help train new youth teams in their regions. Community projects will also positively affect various community members.
