By Dom Williams | Founder and Director of The Phoenix Projects
2015 has got off to a great start and it is mainly thanks to our forty local teachers accross the Phoenix Projects, the majority of whom were once our students so fully comprehend what it is like to come to school on an empty stomach and know what needs to be done in the classroom. Also, explaining difficult educational problems in their mother-tongue makes the job a lot easier! Also, the majority of our teachers are female which make for great role models in the community and demonstrates that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible. Guatemala leads the way with twenty local teachers, followed by Honduras with twelve. Nicaragua, Ecuador and Perú make up the rest although plans are in the pipeline to add more teachers as the year goes on and we see where needs arise.
Thank you to all our donors who continually help to make this happen and who will make this happen in the future. Remember that on 6th June we are undertaking The Phoenix Seven Continent Charity Challenge, where you can undertake any fundraising event at home, knowing that fundraisers are being held on the same day around the world. Please do get involved and use this page as your fundraising page - every cent counts!. For more information click here.
Thank you and have a great March!
