Fund a teacher and teach a class in Latin America

As part of the Fly The Phoenix Seven Continent Charity Challenge on Saturday 6th June, the communities themselves will be undertaking events to raise awareness and funds. Please sponsor the communities as we strive to move towards sustainability over the next few years by donating to this page.

A brilliant few months across all the projects with some scintilating exams results, all thanks to our local teachers, the majority of whom we once our students and we have put through teaching college and now employ! In Guatemala, our first exams results were amazing from all the grades; the children are currently in their second set of exams as I write this report! In Honduras the 2014 national college results were published and Phoenix College was well above the national average in spanish language (80% compared to 60%) and maths (80% compared to 40%).

Our local teachers in Nicaragua continue to perform amazing work as our ever-growing classes have such a thirst for learning the basics! In Ecuador, our local teachers reported the neccesity of the afternoon reinforcement classes as the class sizes in the new centralized school are too big to allow individual attention and the children are falling behind. Ex-student Elizabeth, our new teacher's assistant in Perú, has settled in very well into her teaching role in grades 1 and 2 and we will be bringing in a new teacher's assistant, again an ex-student, in June.
