In Argentina, 40.6% of people face severe housing issues, with 3 in 10 living without bathrooms, electricity, or sanitation. Families light candles to study, live surrounded by disease risks, and endure unthinkable hardships daily. Mujeres 2000's Familias en Obra program empowers vulnerable families to transform unsafe homes into dignified ones through microloans and guidance. Over 1,500 families now live safer lives, building hope and brighter futures.
Over 10 million people in Argentina live in conditions that most would consider unthinkable. These barriers make daily life unsafe and uncertain, exposing families to health risks and limiting their opportunities for education and employment. Families in precarious housing situations often lack access to bank loans due to high interest rates and restrictive requirements. This financial exclusion leaves them unable to make even the most essential repairs, perpetuating cycles of poverty.
Microloans: Tailored financial support enables families to make necessary improvements, such as adding bathrooms, kitchens, or reliable electrical systems. Professional Oversight: A dedicated team of architects, engineers, and construction experts volunteers to guide families throughout the renovation process, ensuring safety and quality. Active Family Participation: Families work hands-on in the construction and renovation process, gaining essential skills and fostering a sense of pride.
Safe housing lays the foundation for opportunity. Families can focus on jobs, education, and a brighter future. Improved living conditions ripple outward, strengthening communities and inspiring local development. Familias en Obra builds a more equitable society where every family has a chance to thrive-one home at a time.
