Roxana is a young woman who, until recently, lived with her two young daughters in a single room located on the upper floor of her mother’s house. That space, which functioned only as a bedroom and bathroom, was insufficient, limiting their privacy, comfort, and ability to carry out basic household activities.
Thanks to two microloans granted by the organization, and with the financial and structural support of her mother, Roxana was able to begin a significant home expansion process. Above her mother’s garage, columns and a concrete slab were built, creating a new, safe base to plan additional living spaces. With this structure in place, Roxana built an independent bedroom and a kitchen, which allowed her to completely reorganize how the family uses their home.
This expansion brought about a substantial improvement in their living conditions, strengthening privacy, hygiene, functionality, and overall quality of daily life. The process also had a positive impact on Roxana’s autonomy and empowerment, as she managed the resources, made key decisions about the construction, and moved forward in building a dignified home project of her own for her daughters.
