Challenge

''A" is a 15 years old boy, third child in a family of 6 children to a widow. He is in class 6 now, he has been suffering with growth when he was about 5 years and lost his father when he was 9. Over the years the scar continued to increase until this sage and does not show any sign of stopping soon. The mother is a peasant farmer in Mbonso who barely feed the children. The three boys do small jobs to pay a room and access education in Kumbo and responsible for all school needs.

Solution

The project will fund medical surgery on the neck for "A", and provide educational support for him beginning from class 6 until form 5 at the secondary level. Additionally, his two other brothers who are living with him in one room which they are renting to access education, will also receive full educational support through this project from form 1-to-5. The project will pay surgical bills, tuition fees, buy books, pens, uniform and shoes as well provide counseling services.

Long-Term Impact

It is expected that, with this holistic approach to addressing the health and education challenge for these three orphans, there would be an improvement in both physical and mental health and well-being which will give them hope for the future, and "A" will be able to work and meet basic needs. With education they will be able to make informed decisions for their lives as well as be free from psychological trauma and depression.
