Report on the Aladina Foundation Introduction and Activity Summary This year marks the 19th anniversary of the Aladina Foundation, which has established itself as a leading organization in Spain dedicated to supporting children and adolescents with cancer, as well as their families. Renowned for our innovative therapies and widely recognized within Spanish society, Aladina collaborates with 22 hospitals nationwide. Through these partnerships, we serve over 2,000 children annually and have supported 20,000 individuals since our foundation in 2005. Our unique approach combines medical treatment with laughter, play, and love, with a particular focus on adolescents, a group often overlooked in cancer care. Beneficiary Story Carmen, mother to two daughters, shares her heartfelt experience: “Eighteen months ago, my five-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Our world was turned upside down. Through social media, I connected with an oncological companion and friend. She has been an invaluable mentor, helping me navigate emotions and tackle this challenge with strength and empowerment. Despite our physical distance and connecting via Zoom, her support has been a cornerstone for our family.” Impact and Statistics This year, the Aladina Foundation achieved significant milestones: Expanded our network to 22 public hospitals across Spain. Supported 663 patients through psychological therapies. Facilitated 2,210 sessions via the "Together from Home" program. Engaged 386 children and adolescents in animal-assisted therapies with dogs and horses. Provided bereavement therapy programs to 81 siblings and 69 family members. Delivered physical exercise programs to 109 patients, enhancing their physical and emotional well-being. Call to Action and Conclusion Every year, 2,000 new cases of cancer are diagnosed among children and adolescents in Spain. The Aladina Foundation remains steadfast in its mission to expand our psychological, material, emotional, and research-based support to every child facing this illness.
