Thank you, dear supporter, for your continued commitment to Amantani's Andean Youth Project. Your generosity is transforming the lives of young Peruvians who grapple with the enduring challenges of poverty, discrimination, and limited opportunities. This report serves as an update to how you are changing the lives and landscape for young people in the Andes.
Cleyde, from our last report, a previous program graduate, continues to thrive as a tourism manager in her community. Abelardo, who studied Metal Construction Mechanics, works at a welding workshop, Richard has been hired in an accounting firm, and Elizabeth, who studied Tourism Management, is working at the Front Desk of a hotel. There really is success coming from the Amantani projects!
Maria Matilde, a bright and enthusiastic young woman from the rural district of Huanoquite, is making waves in our current program. Her passion for learning is infectious, and she has quickly become a beloved member of the Amantani community. Maria Matilde's determination to overcome challenges, coupled with her natural leadership abilities, makes her a shining example of the potential of our students. She has excelled in her tourism management studies and is already demonstrating a talent for connecting with people.
Amidst the towering Andes, where ancient wisdom intertwines with modern challenges, Cleyde, Abelardo, Richard, Elizabeth and Maria Matilde are bright lights demonstrating how Amantani's Andean Youth Project is cultivating a new generation of leaders. By providing education, career guidance, and a supportive community, we are breaking the persistent cycle of poverty. Over 57% of our graduates now hold stable jobs [typically, un-stable jobs are the norm for over 70% of young people], a testament to the program's effectiveness. The Amantani Youth Hub, a vibrant heart of our work, fosters a sense of belonging and empowers young people to reach their full potential and remain proud of their heritage.
The indigenous youth of Peru navigate a complex landscape marked by systemic inequalities. Rooted in their ancestral lands, they often find themselves at the periphery of economic and social progress. Limited access to quality education, coupled with cultural biases, creates a formidable barrier to their aspirations.
However, you, by supporting Amantani, are embodying the Kichwa principle of Ayni - reciprocal exchange and balance. Your generosity empowers young people to become catalysts for change in their communities. By pledging just $10 per month, you can help students like Cleyde and Maria Matilde achieve their full potential. $10 is perhaps one or two cups of coffee per month in the US, UK and EU, but it's a lifetime of change in the Peruvian Andes. Alternatively, a donation to support our Youth Hub will ensure a vital space for future generations.
Thank you, always, for being a part of this journey. Together, we can create a brighter future for Andean youth.
