By The staff and clients of Access Nature Projext | Project Coordinators and Director

"Nature heals, inspires, and brings people together. Through free outdoor programs, we help people of all types and abilities connect with nature, reaping its many benefits. “ Access Nature Project.
“…if you’re in a bad mood, go for a walk. If you’re still in a bad mood, go for another walk.” Hippocrates
OUR CLIENTS REPORT:
BRINGING THE HEALING BENEFITS OF NATURE TO THOSE IN NEED!
We have so much to tell you, but let’s start with these inspirational comments from last week’s program: Responses to the question, “How do you feel now, after the nature outing?”
"BETTER"      "NATURE UPLIFTS YOU"     "HAPPIER"     "MORE RELAXED"
"ITS HARD TO EXPLAIN..NATURE JUST SOME SOMETHING THAT MAKES
YOU FEEL BETTER"
"BEING IN NATURE GIVES YOU POSITIVE
~ Pathways, October 2026
DID YOU KNOW?
Utilizing staff and volunteers we keep a 3 to 1 ratio for our groups with disabilities, and 7 to 1 ratio for our community groups (clients to helpers). This enables us to accommodate all abilities, insuring all our clients have an enjoyable and safe nature experience.
TRENDING NOW:

Abilities Celebration at Rockefeller State Park – We were delighted to once again participate in this amazing day, celebrating people with all kinds of abilities!
Appreciation Celebration –
An inspirational gathering honoring our many volunteers, partner organizations, venues, and supporters! We truly couldn’t do what we do without you!

Pathways to the New Canaan Nature Center – for apple cidering, a nature walk, and a picnic lunch.
Coordinator of
Community organizations-
We are delighted to welcome Susan Sloan, who will now be leading our community programs going forward. Susan comes to us from Bedford Audubon and brings much experience, expertise, and enthusiasm for our work. We say farewell to Jessica Colón, and wish her well in her new endeavors.

UPCOMING:
Despite the weather, the heat, and the smoke this summer, we managed to run 30 amazing nature programs this year! We’re finishing the season with two of our favorite partner organizations:
Community Center of Northern Westchester to Westmoreland Sanctuary:
We will enjoy a naturalist-led walk for a pond and wildlife study, and a picnic lunch.

Sunshine Club to Muscoot Farm:
We will enjoy a self guided tour
of the farm animals, a hayride, hike,
and picnic lunch.
Limited Mobility Focus:
We strive for greater inclusivity for people with limited mobility. To that end, our staff and volunteers will participate in training sessions on the use of  e-chairs and e-trikes, for greater  trail enjoyment.

Our Ultimate Success:
Our long-term goal is self-sufficiency.
We are so pleased to share that
many of our groups are experiencing
nature more regularly on their own.
Kudos to those making weekly trips
to the farm, creating lifetime
tools of well-being for those in need.
Words from one of our partners:
“We truly appreciate our partnership and are grateful to your team for sharing this opportunity with our families. Over the years, Access to Nature has brought so much joy to our parents and littles. These days, our families are experiencing an immense amount of fear and trauma. Access Nature Project has provided a healing space to feel valued, respected and in community; For many families that wouldn't be possible without your continued support and passion.”

Wishing everyone a beautiful and happy Thanksgiving... and add a walk in your local park or preserve to your
holiday to-do list!

Want to help? Sign up to volunteer or make a donation. We appreciate all efforts
to help us bring the joy and healing benefits of nature to ALL!
As we close out our programming season, we remind all our supporters of the value of experiencing a natural environment, reducing depression and anxiety while increasing relaxation and well-being. Cooler temperatures bring their own joy and beauty.
Be on the lookout for our annual Winter Challenge!

Access Nature Project brings the healing benefits of nature to the underserved, primarily people with disabilities and families of limited means. Our ultimate goal is self-sufficiency, creating LIFETIME TOOLS OF WELL-BEING for our clients!
All our programs are 100% FREE to the people we serve!!
