Gasol Foundation works to reduce childhood obesity rates through the promotion of sports and physical activity, healthy eating, sleep quality, and the emotional well-being of children, adolescents and their families in the United States and Spain. It also focuses on research and advocacy to illimunate the obesity crisis as the greatest opportunity to invest in the health of our future.
Childhood obesity is one of the greatest challenges threatening children's health today. According to the World Obesity Federation, the number of children living with obesity worldwide is expected to grow from an estimated 158 million to over 250 million in the next 10 years.
Gasol Foundation programs promote healthy habits amongst kids, youth, and their families while empowering individuals to serve as advocates for healthy change. Their programs provide low-income families with educational tools and resources, partner with camp experiences to incorporate health habit messaging and games, offer health and wellness programs to affordable housing communities, and coordinate sports and physical activities for at-risk children.
It mobilizes individuals and local communities to become advocates for change and invites them to join as they drive awareness and advance policy on a city, state, national, and international level. Their research allows for long-term actionable insights for all to act upon and empowers children and their families to live healthily and healthily, removing barriers that obesity can have upon one's wellbeing, such as physical health ailments and mental, emotional, and psychological insecurities.
