The Ramadan Iftar Meal Program in Gaza provides essential humanitarian support amid extreme food insecurity caused by prolonged conflict, mass displacement, and the collapse of basic services. 1.1 million people are projected to face catastrophic hunger, with over 70% relying on humanitarian assistance. Families struggle to access food, clean water, cooking fuel, and safe shelter, while 1.9 million remain displaced.
During Ramadan, these challenges intensify. Fasting from dawn to sunset makes access to a reliable, nutritious iftar meal critical. Traditional staples—bread, rice, lentils, dates, and protein—are scarce or unaffordable, and displaced families face additional barriers in preparing food safely. A hot, prepared iftar meal is a lifeline—without it, thousands risk going without sustenance each day.
The program prioritizes the most vulnerable, including displaced households, female-headed families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Meals are prepared through community kitchens and delivered via local networks, ensuring timeliness, nutritional adequacy, and cultural appropriateness.
Beyond alleviating hunger, the program restores dignity and normalcy, reduces anxiety, and fosters hope during one of the most spiritually significant months. Sustained funding and operational support are essential to maintain daily distributions and ensure that vulnerable families in Gaza can break their fast with nourishment, security, and dignity.
