Diksha becomes a policewoman!

By Sophie Stephens | Digital Fundraiser

Diksha has faced many adversities, but this hasn't stopped her from pursuing her dreams.

When she was 10 years old, her situation changed overnight. Her father died, her mother remarried, and Diksha was suddenly living with her uncle. Her uncle was very poor, worked a lot and couldn’t take care of her properly, therefore, the only solution seemed to be marriage.

Diksha didn’t want to get married yet, her hope had always been to get an education and become a policewoman. She was determined to find a job in order to finance her education by herself. However, nobody gave her a chance - she simply had no experience and above all, no self-belief.

The Solera Girls' Home in Amravati, gave her this chance and with it, a dignified and empowered life. From now on, Diksha no longer had to worry about where she would sleep that night or when she might next eat, she could pour all her energy into school. After she had finished, Diksha prevailed against many other applicants and mastered the difficult entry test with flying colours into the police service.

With the guidance of the Solera Girls' Home and her iron will, Diksha was able to realise her dream: she is now training to become a police officer!

Your support is making an impact on children's lives and liberating them to become who they want to be.

Thank you and wishing you well,
