Meet Chanchal. Chanchal wants more than anything to be an airhostess. She dreams of flying in planes across the world!
Unfortunately, Chanchal doesn’t feel like that will ever be possible.
Her father and mother are HIV positive and due to misinformation surrounding HIV and community stigma, they are fearful for Chanchal to live with them and come too close, as they are terrified she could contract it too. This caused Chanchal to live with a relative now and often go inbetween homes.
Chanchal's parents go through periods of being unwell, so struggle to keep down any regular employment. This turbulence means that Chanchal can't access education.
This is where our project steps in.
Chanchal is now living in the Solera Home for Girls, with a school around the corner, she can easily travel to school and get the education she is so keen to receive! Alongside this, she is surrounded by peers who have equal goals, so it is a supportive and stable environment for her to be able to flourish. Her parents encouraged Chanchal to move to the home, as they can see the benefit of education and the effect it can have, especially on girl's lives.
For Chanchal now the sky is the limit! She is one step closer to reaching her goal as an airhostess.
