Protect girls from violence in school

As winter approaches, bringing more darkness than light, it delights me to share some bright news from Amravati, India. 

And let's be honest here, what I’m about to share wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for your heartfelt generosity! 

Amravati is a city with a population of around 650,000. Deep within the city sits a slum, renowned for its high crime rates and social deprivation. 

The slum is particularly dangerous for girls and young women. Thankfully; however, you are doing something to create change, not just for this generation, but for future generations to come. 

Let’s take 14-year-old Anshula for example. With previous experience of harassment and ridicule during her period, Anshula has been engaging with the project's girls' training group.  

This is just one of the many activities for girls and young women that you help to fund. 

At the classes, Anshula has been able to share her experiences with other girls. Together, amongst other things, they have received awareness training on menstruation, what constitutes as sexual violence, their legal rights and how to report crime. 

However, your gifts are not just providing training to girls like Anshula. Our project works closely with Anshula’s school. Together, the project managers and teachers identify what issues are affecting girls and young women in the slums around Amravati.  

Together they then develop further initiatives to help this and future generations.
