Empowering Young Voices like Nalini's.

By Soph Stephens | Digital Manager

In a rural community, a young girl named Nalini has become a powerful advocate for children's rights and gender equality. Through a Personal Safety Education programme supported by our partner organisation, she has gained the knowledge and confidence to protect herself and inspire change in her community.

This programme has been transformative, equipping Nalini with essential life skills and a deeper understanding of important social issues. She learned about children's rights and how to protect herself in unsafe situations, discovering crucial safety rules. The training also addressed the often-taboo subject of menstruation, helping her understand that it's a natural process, not something to be ashamed of.

Nalini reflects on her experience: "I learned about children's rights and how to protect myself in unsafe situations. I discovered important safety rules, such as how to assertively say 'NO' if I feel threatened, emphasising that it's never my fault if such situations occur."

Perhaps most importantly, the programme has instilled in Nalini a strong sense of gender equality. She now confidently shares with her community that boys and girls should have the same opportunities and rights, and that girls can achieve whatever boys can.

As part of a group of young volunteers, Nalini has been actively involved in promoting safety and equality. They have engaged with local support systems, reinforcing the importance of community involvement in ensuring children's safety.

Nalini's story highlights the power of education in creating lasting change. By equipping young people with knowledge about their rights and the confidence to speak out, we're nurturing a generation of advocates who can build a safer, more equitable society, with no one left behind.

Your support makes it possible for us to continue empowering young voices like Nalini's. Together, we're creating a future where all children feel safe, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. Thank you.
