Gender inequality limits safety, opportunity, and dignity for many families in Yobe State. This project will equip 200 women, men, and youth with practical knowledge of gender rights and equality. Through structured community workshops and dialogues, participants will understand legal protections, shared responsibilities, and respectful gender relations. By increasing awareness and local ownership, the project delivers a clear, achievable pathway to stronger, more inclusive communities.
Women and girls in Yobe face persistent discrimination rooted in limited awareness of gender rights and weak community dialogue. Many people lack basic knowledge of national laws, protections against abuse, and the benefits of gender equality. These gaps allow harmful norms to continue, reducing women's participation and exposing families to conflict and violence. Without targeted education, inequality remains normalized and progress stalls.
Change begins with knowledge that communities can use immediately. This project will deliver facilitated gender rights workshops for 200 participants using simple language and interactive methods. Men, women, youth, and community leaders will learn about equality, legal protections, and positive gender roles. Local engagement ensures cultural relevance, while practical discussions turn learning into action, making the approach cost-effective, realistic, and scalable.
When communities understand rights, behavior changes last. Participants will apply their knowledge to promote fairness in households, schools, and local leadership spaces. Increased awareness will help reduce discrimination, support girls' education, and strengthen women's voices in decision-making. Over time, trained participants will influence others, creating a ripple effect that advances gender equality and community stability across Yobe State.
