Summary

The problem addressed by Generation TIC is to improve the higher education opportunities in career for the school graduates in poverty conditions in Bogota. In Colombia just 10% of the youth of poor context can access higher education, due the lack of financial resources. Taking this into account the main objective of the project is to generate school opportunities of formation for 100 Students in the last years of highschool in the neighborhood of Codito, which does not have the resources

Challenge

In Colombia just 10% of the youth of poor context can access higher education, due the lack of financial resources. The nieghborhood fo Codito is traditionally known by being a popular neighborhood build on migrant from toher regiones of the country who took illegal possesion of the land but for different agreements they have the property. In this neighborhood due the lack of an educative offer, the youngs get involved in gangs and microtraphic as an easy alternative to get money.

Solution

main objective of the project is to generate school opportunities of formation for 100 Students in the last years of highschool in the neighborhood of Codito. To make this we consider three stages: first an stage of training in digital contents according to the need of the digital talent needed by the industry. In the second stage, after the training we expect to connect them with IT talent in Colombia. Finally, to accompany the participants in the search of a technical or pro ICT careers.

Long-Term Impact

For us it is important that the projects are scalable and endurable For us it is important that the projects are scalable and enduring over time, so we know the importance of including parents, teachers and volunteers in the learning model process so that it can be implemented for a longer time and to a greater number of people. Additionally, for young people 18 years old, Bootcamp training is carried out in programming and soft skills topics so that they can have work options in the ICT sector.
