This project aims to protect endangered wildlife by proposing an innovative solution to protect wildlife threatened by climate change and deforestation. By collaborating with local communities, we use surveillance technologies to prevent the illegal capture of animals. Through education and training in sustainable alternatives, we restore natural habitats while ensuring a balanced future for biodiversity and local populations for their livelihoods.
Deforestation and illegal wildlife capture in the DRC. These practices are exacerbated by climate change, traditional medicine, conflict, urban expansion, logging, and the poverty of local communities, who turn to capturing animals for their livelihoods. This threatens not only biodiversity but also the balance of ecosystems. Without intervention, these actions can lead to the extinction of species, the degradation of natural habitats, and serious consequences for the populations that depend on.
Solving the problem will involve educating and training communities about the importance of biodiversity and offering them sustainable alternatives, such as crafts and organic farming. We will use monitoring technologies to prevent the illegal capture of wildlife and restore habitats by replanting trees. By collaborating with local communities, we will ensure that solutions are appropriate and sustainable, thus protecting endangered wildlife and preserving ecosystems for future generations.
This project includes biodiversity preservation and ecosystem restoration, which will promote resilience in the face of climate change. By creating sustainable livelihoods, we will reduce dependence on deforestation and illegal wildlife harvesting. Local communities will benefit from a better quality of life, increased environmental education, and sustainable resource management. This will lead to a harmony between human needs and nature conservation, ensuring a sustainable future.
