In 2014, Shurenchimeg was a 16 years old girl and sponsored through TFCF Mongolia branch service. She has an absent father who left family since years ago. Her mother has poor health and was unable to work normally due to the low level of education and skills. In order to earn more money, she was a scavenger and collected glass bottles thrown at pubs in the mid-night. However, Shurenchimeg’s mother was unable tofind a way out of poverty.
“After the visit, our social worker found that their ger (the Mongolian word for yurt) was leaning so heavily and it looked like a condemned yurt not suitable for any kind of habitation. The mother understood that it was very dangerous to live in, but they had no choice at all. Finally, volunteers were successfully recruited, and the donations from Taiwanese helped Shurenchimeg’s family build a new ger they can call home.”

Poverty in Mongolia
In Mongolia, 21.6% of the population lives below the national poverty line. TFCF Mongolia has provided welfare service since March 2005. Even the sponsorship program helps children and families in Mongolia, however, we know that there are many families facing the same situation as Shurenchimeg’s family. According to our services record, there were around 10 households needed ger/furniture/curtain repair or replacement services during the first half of 2017 and we expect to see the increase in the volume of households who need a safe ger/yurt to overcome the cold in the coming winter. We are looking forward to seeing your participation and let’s help needy families in Mogolia through the Ger Project.
TFCF new projects in GlobalGiving
In addition to serve more needy children in the world, we have launched 3 more GlobalGiving projects in Vietnam, Swaziland, and Cambodia through the services our overseas branch offices provide. Definitely, we cannot do it without your support. We sincerely invite you to participate with us again and expect to be your trustable partner to maximize the benefits of needy children in these countries. Welcome to review our projects and join us to bring more assistances for disadvantaged children together. It’s great to have you with us. Thank you and wish you all the best.
With gratitude,
Wen Hung
