100s of horses have been abandoned on Accra's roads or have been left by owners in stables without support for their care. Funds will help a group of dedicated women to continue helping the horses.
Either because they can't afford their care or because the horses are no longer useful to the owners, Accra-Ghana has many abandoned horses. Some have been left at stables, others are pegged to roundabouts or wander the busy streets of Accra. Without Animal-Kind International's support for a small group of dedicated women who have fed and watched over them, these horses would receive no regular care. Even those who work at stables rarely understand the complex nature and needs of horses.
The Animal-Kind Int'l project will provide food, supplemts, eqpt and meds for daily care & will also train Ghanaians, who have proved particularly dedicated, to take on care of these horses. These trained professionals could then sell their services.
There are few Ghanaians professionally trained in horse care yet there is a need for this expertise (polo & horse racing are popular in Accra). They will continue donating their services to abandoned horses, while having a specialty to earn income.
