1. This project intends to benefit about 3000 people by solving the water problem in western Kenya and help resolve disputes between the Muslims and the Christian communities over water. 2. It will also help reduce the incidences of poverty and improve hygiene hence reducing the high prevalence of diarrhoea among children under five years. 3. The project will bring water closer to the community hence bridging gender inequality and reduce the distance covered by elderly people and learners.
Access to clean water is still a major problem to most of the communities in Western Kenya. As a result, many communities are experiencing conflicts due to sharing of the limited reliable water points. The high incidence of poverty coupled with limited access to potable water, exposes most families to diarrhoea especially for children under five years. A substantial number of households still limited access to safe sanitation practices.
1. Drilling of boreholes will enhance access to reliable and safe drinking water. 2. The water points will improve the relationships between rival religious groups. 3. Sanitation and hygiene training will improve awareness and improve hygiene and sanitation habit reducing prevalence preventable diseases especially diarrhoea in children under five years.
The project will reduce incidences of diarrhoea diseases in children under five years.
